Vehicle Description

It's nimble and low to the ground, with no wasted space and a timeless appearance. Yep, this 1978 MG MGB is the epitome of a sports car. Dressed in high-impact yellow paint that's nicely contrasted by blackened bumpers at both ends and ornamented by chrome trim running the length of its sides, it's simply a great-looking ride and one of those rare cars whose style doesn't really give away its age. If you didn't already know for sure, it might be nearly impossible to tell whether this classic from across the pond rolled off the assembly line recently or decades ago. It's not hard to see why its manufacturer left the model more or less intact for its entire 18-year run, making only minor adjustments - such as the updated bumpers this specimen features - during that time. The accompanying black vinyl interior has been left in its appealing factory configuration, and while it may show signs of light wear here and there, it still has plenty of life left in it. Climb in, and one of the first things you might notice is the leg room at the driver's disposal. Unlike many sports cars featuring the same approximate wheelbase, the MGB boasts a sizable following of enthusiasts over six feet tall who can navigate their classics without having to contort themselves behind the wheel. The front bucket seats are plenty comfortable for even longer journeys, and they feature pronounced bolsters for support during the spirited driving that would be very much in keeping with this MG's heritage. The factory steering wheel remains in place, and the gauges behind it are all still in good working order. An aftermarket Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette stereo is on hand at the center of the dash to provide your own era-appropriate soundtrack during your journeys, and when the skies darken, there's a vinyl convertible top sitting neatly below its tonneau cover, ready to rise into place for protection. If you put a high premium on drivability, you'll definitely want to take a closer look at this classic. Its 1798cc inline 4-cylinder engine is in fine form, outfitted with a 2-barrel carburetor and teaming with a smooth-shifting 4-speed manual transmission to make for a great experience behind the wheel. Unlike many sports cars from decades past, this MG not only features front disc brakes, but they're power-assisted as well, so you'll have plenty of low-effort, fade-resistant stopping ability at your disposal.
